Design em comunidade : reflexões e experiências em contextos diversos = Design Through Communities : reflections and experiences in different context

This publication brings together a collection of texts that present the results of research and interdisciplinary reflections in the field of Design, from the following institutions: Universidade de São Paulo, FAUUSP – Brazil, University of Leeds – UK, University of Minho – Portugal, University of Bergen – Norway, University of Porto – Portugal, University of Aveiro – Portugal, University of Melbourne - Australia and APTD - Transmontana Association for Development. The organization of the content occurred during a meeting held at the University of Minho in November 2023, during the Seminar Making Design Through Communinites at lab2PT - Laboratório de Paisagens, Património e Território. All of these texts reinforce the importance of the links between design and care, in their multiple dimensions. Thus, the following themes were addressed: design, migration and social inclusion of refugees; design and equipment for the outskirts of Brazilian cities; design, communities, tactile books and visual capacity; design, media and young people in South Africa; design, sociology and contributions to social inclusion; design in contexts of social exclusion; design and transformative encounters. All the chapters emphasize the political meaning of community participation.
