Synopsis

The organizers hope to have fulfilled the objective of the book of producing research based educational material, combining multidimensional approaches to the study of human sound production with an evolutionary perspective. That's why the work begins with the production of sound in non-human animals: there are anatomic and functional similarities involved in sound production in mammals, that from the most parsimonious view represent a continuity between non-human and human animals. During the collaborative research, the need to consult experts was perceived, given the interdisciplinary nature of the research topics under investigation. The book was divided into four parts: Animal Bioacoustics, Human Bioacoustics, Methods used in Bioacoustic research and analysis used in bioacoustic research.
