Synopsis

Theoretical exposition of the motion of the 4 great satellites of Jupiter following the classical theory of Laplace and its developments. The perturbations due to the planetary-like nature of the system are calculated with emphasis in the secular and forced variations in the eccentricity of the satellites orbits. The actions due to the Sun and to the oblateness of Jupiter are also discussed.
