Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.- The book must to have scientific or academic content concerning the area of expertise of the author at the University
- The book must have digital ISBN registered in Brazilian Agency of ISBN on behalf of the USP college or institute

The author is the copyright holder and/or have made the licensing of the book in open access,
allowing the dissemination/reproduction of it in the USP Open Books Portal - Two files must be sent: (a) book file in pdf or ePUB with Optical Character Recognition (OCR), which allows the recognition of textual characters from images, and (b) the file of the cover image, in JPG
- Will not be included in the Portal: annals of events, reports, books chapter, annuals, theses or dissertations, course completion work, literary production of personal interest
- The omitted cases will be analyzed by the Editorial Scientific Committee of the USP Open Books Portal
- Works published in co-edition with publishers outside USP may be analyzed and, by means of a document that proves the external Editor's agreement with the terms of submission adopted by USP's Open Book Portal, the work may be published
- Contents for analysis must be forwarded by the Unit's Publication Commission, if any, or, in its absence, by the author or organizer, to the team responsible for the USP Open Book Portal via email: atendimento@abcd.usp.br
- According to ABNT NBR 6029 in force since 2006, Book is a non-periodical publication that contains more than 49 pages, excluding the covers, and which is subject to an International Standard Book Number (ISBN)
- The book must have a digital ISBN registered with the Brazilian Book Chamber or a similar international body, on behalf of the USP unit, institute, center or museum.
- The authors, organizers and holders of intellectual property agree to the Creative Commons Licensing License and the icon corresponding to the adopted license will be reproduced on the e-book website. Learn more and choose license: https://creativecommons.org/share-your-work/cclicenses/
- The author is the copyright holder and/or has already licensed the work in open access, in the same way as the USP Faculty, Institute, Center or Museum, allowing the publication/reproduction of the work on the USP Open Books Portal .
- The author, co-author, editor or organizer of the work as a whole may be or have been a teaching staff member, technical-administrative staff member, guest lecturer, postdoctoral fellow or graduate student at the University of São Paulo and the ORCID number (https ://orcid.org) of each must be informed, when available.
- Two files must be sent: (a) book file in PDF or ePUB with Optical Character Recognition (OCR) applied, which allows the recognition of textual characters from images, and (b) cover image file, in JPG
- Files must be sent duly formatted and standardized in terms of margins, size, page orientation and OCR. For examples, check other books on the USP Open Book Portal
- For works already published on other websites and reproduced on the Portal, the following sentence will appear on the e-book website: "This work is open access. Partial or total reproduction of this work is permitted, provided that the source and authorship are cited and respecting the Creative Commons license indicated"
- For works in press (in the process of being published) the following sentence must appear in the PDF file of the e-book: "This work is open access. Partial or total reproduction of this work is permitted, provided that the source and authorship are cited and respecting the indicated Creative Commons License" and the license icon must appear on the work's catalog page.
- For works already published on other websites and reproduced on the USP Open Books Portal, the DOI number will appear on the e-book website with the syntax: prefix USP 10.11606 + forward slash (/) + electronic ISBN suffix without hyphens. Ex.: 10.11606/xxxxxxxxxxxxx
- Monographic series or book collections may be accepted. Ex. NEHiLP notebooks
- The following will not be included in the Portal: annual reports, proceedings, book chapters, yearbooks, memorials, theses or dissertations (unless they are written books), course conclusion works, literary production of personal interest
- Content that may infringe any aspects related to copyright, intellectual property and ethical conduct will not be published. Text similarity verification tools may be used.
- The work must have a scientific and/or academic nature. Exceptionally, educational e-books may be accepted.
- All submitted works will be evaluated by members of the Scientific Editorial Committee of the Portal de Livros Abertos da USP composed of Professors and employees of ABCD-USP before being approved for publication, without exception.

Names and e-mails registered on this Portal will be used exclusively for the purpose of the same and will not be disclosed or offered for any other purpose or to third parties.
