This e-book brings together ten articles by researchers and scholars of J. R. R. Tolkien’s works, written in celebration of the 70th anniversary of the publication of The Lord of the Rings, a milestone commemorated in 2024 and 2025. With the aim of fostering an international dialogue on Tolkien studies, the volume is published entirely in English and features contributions in comparative literature, mythology, literary criticism, translation, critical reception, theology, medievalism, and calligraphy, by renowned scholars from Brazil and abroad, such as Ronald Kyrmse, Reinaldo José Lopes, and Sørina Higgins. The volume also includes a foreword by James K. Tauber, a Tolkien scholar and founder of the Digital Tolkien Project. Edited by Cristina Casagrande, Giovanna Chinellato, Guilherme Mazzafera, and Maria Zilda da Cunha, the e-book is a publication of the Mythopoetic Studies Group (Grupo de Estudos Mitopoéticos), affiliated with the Research Group on Literary and Cultural Productions for Children and Young Adults (Grupo de Pesquisa Produções Literárias e Culturais para Crianças e Jovens) of University of São Paulo (USP). The volume grew out of the academic initiative of the First International Gathering of Mythopoetic Studies and the Second Journey of Mythopoetic Studies, held in July 2024 at USP to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the publication of The Lord of the Rings.
